| How to find out if anyone from your neighborhood is online and ready to
chat |
If you're an America Online member, there's an easy
way to find out if anyone from your neighborhood (or from any place you wish) is online at
a given time.
- Sign on to America Online
- Select "Members | Member Directory" from the main
menu
- Click on "Advanced Search"
- Enter a word that describe the geographical area you're interested in.
For example, let's say you're looking for everyone from the "New
York City." Simply type in "New York"
without the quotes. We'll ignore "City" part
because it's a very common word.
- In the "Location (city/state)" block, enter the
state which you're interested in.
According to our above example, we're interested in the NY area, so enter "NY."
- Fill out other entries if necessary.
If you're following our example, leave all other fields blank.
- Check "Return only members online" check box.
- Click on "Search"
